Title aspirants India beat Afghanistan 1-0
Sunday, 6 December 2009
Title aspirants India were forced to sweat as they scraped past Afghanistan by a solitary goal in the second match of Group A of the Bangabandhu SAFF Football Championship at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Saturday, reports BSS.
Both teams failed to break the deadlock at the breather.
The Indians can consider themselves lucky as the Afghans defended their citadel stubbornly hardly allowing any breathing space but in the 86th minute Je Je Lalpehula broke the Afghan heart as his solo dash down the right flank left the rival defence in disarray and his angular shot slid past bemused Afghan goalkeeper.
