Tk 0.1m compensation to family of each victim

KHAGRACHHARI, Apr 18 (UNB): A young man fatally wounded in Sunday's clash in a land dispute at remote village of Ramgarh Upazila died today raising the casualty figure in the incident to four. Badiuzzaman (25), died in Manikchhari Hospital today. Ayub Ali (36), Nawab Ali (60) and Sunil died yesterday during the clash. Five others injured were lying in the hospital. All the victims are labourers employed by some settlers to clear the jungle. The troubled areas of Sangkhola para, Baro Tilak, Kachu Baoanti, Mahamoni para and Manikchhari are under Section 144. Special force of Army and police has been patrolling the area. Locals said normalcy is returning to the area and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere today. Joytindra Lal Tripura MP who is also chairman of Task Force for rehabilitation of the refugees visiting the affected area this morning announced compensation of Tk 0.1 million (1.0 lakh) to each family of those that died in the clash. Compensation for burning dwelling houses will also be provided after assessment. He advised all sections of the people to exercise utmost patience and face up the situation with fortitude. He said an evil force was trying to trigger disturbances to benefit from the crisis. But the administration is determined to ensure peace. The trouble mongers will be identified and brought to book.
