Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury informed the House Monday that the government has taken a stimulus package of Tk 100 million to help the farmers overcome their losses during the Aman season, reports BSS.
Making a statement under rule 300 of the Rules of Procedures, she said a total of 31 districts have been brought under the programme as part of the government decision to further encourage the farmers.
Matia said the Awami League government took initiatives to produce more agriculture crops through different types of stimulus packages in the agriculture sector.
"The government has undertaken a stimulus package of Tk 439.0 million during Aus season in 2013 by incorporating 332,500 farmers within it," she said. In 2014, the government distributed more than Tk 306.86 million among the farmers during the Aus season to benefit 244,600 farmers, she added.
The minister told the House that the government provided more than Tk 209.12 million under a stimulus package during the Aman season in 2013 to enable the farmers to produce more crops.
