Tk 1.0b uplift project undertaken in Khulna

KHULNA, Apr 21: An initiative has been taken to implement the project for the development of communication system of Khulna town at a cost of Tk. 1 billion with the financial assistance of City Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA). International Organisation Asian Development Bank (ADB), German Development Co-operation (KFW), Swedish SIDA and German Technical Co-operation (GTZ) will help the CDIA to implement the project. It was disclosed in a joint meeting held at Nagar Bhaban Monday comprising the representatives of above organizations, LGRD and ERD. The meeting was presided by the KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque while representative of GTZ Dr. Alekgender, KCC Chief Executive Officer Tapon Kumar Ghosh, Secretary Kazi Fayejur Rahman, Acting Chief Engineer Nazmul Islam, Executive Engineer Liaquat Ali Khan, Moshiuzzaman Khan and other consultants were present among others. KCC Mayor said that we are working sincerely for the development of communication system of Khulna town. The communication system of the town will be more developed while the international development organisations come forward to implement this project. Earlier, KCC mayor inaugurated a training workshop titled "To make proposal and its implementation method", arranged at CSS Ava centre of the city. Councillors, and officials of the Khulna City Corporation took part in the workshop. UZ chairmen's div confce held Another report adds: A daylong divisional conference of the Upazila chairmen and vice-chairmen was held on Wednesday at CSS Ava center of the city. The conference was presided over by the covenor of the conference preparedness committee and chairman of Jibon-Nagar Upazila Parishad Golam Mortoja. Chief of the SDLG Jarom Shayer, specialist of local government Jarina Rahman Khan and Upazilla chairmen addressed the conference. The conference was held with the help of USAID under the programme of SDLG to empower the local government. Later, a 42-member committee titled Khulna Divisional Upazila Parishad Association was formed.
