Tk 11b compensation suit against Jamuna Group chief

A Tk 11 billion compensation suit was filed Monday against seven people, including Jamuna Group chairman Nurul Islam Babul, on charge of publishing ‘false’ reports in his newspaper the Daily Jugantor against East-West Properties Development Ltd.
Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, chairman of Bashundhara Group, the mother organ of East West Property Development Ltd, filed the case with the First Joint District Judge Court of Dhaka.
The other accused in the case include Jugantor publisher and Babul’s wife Salma Islam, couple’s son Shamim Islam, Jugantor acting editor Saiful Alam, Jamuna Print, the Daily Jugantor and Jamuna Future Park, according to a news agency.
