Tk 12.5m Indian goods seized

Benapole, Feb 26: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled Indian goods worth Tk 12.5 million (1.25 crore) from Amrakhali area on Wednesday night. Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-26, said being tipped off, they launched a drive in the area at about 10:00 pm. Sensing the presence of the border force, the smugglers fled the scene leaving behind a truck. Later, BGB members recovered the Indian goods from the truck. The seized goods were deposited to Benapole customs office. — UNB
