Tk 128.57m budget for Pirojpur municipality announced

PIROJPUR, June 12 (UNB): A Tk 128.57 million (Tk 12,85,74,000) budget of Pirojpur municipality was announced for the fiscal 2009-2010 without imposing any new taxes.
Municipality mayor Mohammad Habibur Rahman Malek announced the budget in presence of ward councilors, government officials, journalists and local elite at the municipality auditorium Wednesday.
The municipality has fixed over Tk 124.67 million, as its income in the proposed budget while the rest will come from various development grants.
Of the expenditure, over Tk 72.04 million was allotted for development sectors while over Tk 52.73 million in other sectors.
Holding tax, land tax, leases of hat-bazars, water bills and government grants have been shown as the main sources of the income sources.
The main sectors of expenditure are construction of roads, bridges, culverts, development of hat-bazars, health care, sports, culture and other sectors.
Urging all to pay taxes in due time for the development of the municipality, mayor Habibur Rahman also announced not to impose any new taxes.
