Tk 15m illegal handsets seized in city

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate seized some 409 handsets of different brands worth about Tk 15 million from two showrooms in the city area Thursday. Sources at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate said the mobile sets had been imported illegally as those have no valid documents from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). Acting on a tip-off, a team of the directorate raided the two showrooms of Gadgets N Gear at Banani Road-11 and Gulshan Avenue and seized the handsets of different brands, including Samsung, Nokia, Sony, Blackberry and Motorola.    — UNB
