Tk 162.2m revenue realised in B'baria

BRAHMANBARIA, July 14: The Customs, Excise and Value Added Tax (VAT) department of the district realised a record amount of Tk 162.2 million in revenue in the fiscal 2007-08, sources said.
The district is divided into Sarail, Nasirnagar, Ashuganj, Akhaura, Kasba, Nabinagar, Banchharampur and Sadar upazilas for convenience of VAT collection from the areas.
A revenue target of Tk 161 million (16.10 crore) was fixed for the last fiscal.
The revenue earning is more than Tk 1.18 million (11.8 lakh) higher than that of the previous fiscal, the sources said.
The customs office sources said, revenue income in the fiscal 2007-2008 surpassed all previous records of the district.
Tk 22.60 million was realised from commodities sources against the target of Tk 21.02 million, Tk 10.16 million from nursing sources against the target of Tk 6.33 million, Tk 128.84 million from development sources against the target of Tk 133.12 million, Tk 131.08 million from brickfield sources against the target of Tk 145.7 million.
