Tk 164m looted from Sonali Bank

KISHOREGANJ: In a daring bank robbery, burglars have tunneled into the vault of Sonali Bank’s main branch in the district town and looted about Tk 164 million.
The burglary that took place in a filmy style came to light Sunday afternoon when bank employees went to the vault room for money.
During a visit to the spot, UNB correspondent found that the thieves tunneled their 30-foot way into the vault under the ground from a nearby house.
Humayan Kabir Bhuiyan, manager of the branch, said it was not clear when the incident happened. Police kept the bank cordoned off after the incident, according to a news agency.
