Tk 1.7b incentive for Boro farmers

The government is providing an incentive of Tk 1.7 billion to the country's peasantry for the cultivation and production of Boro paddy.
A total of 2.7-million farmers are getting free paddy seeds and fertilisers under the package.
The farmers are being incentivised from the agriculture rehabilitation support sector in the regular budget of agriculture ministry.
An estimated 50 per cent of the incentive has so far been disbursed across the country.
Some 1.5-million farmers are getting 2.0 kilogram of seeds under a Tk 820-million incentive to increase the production of hybrid paddy.
A total of 1.2-million farmers are benefiting from a Tk 730-million package to boost the production of high-yielding varieties.
Each farmer is also getting 5.0-kg seeds, 10-kg DAP (diammonium phosphate) and 10-kg MOP (muriate of potash) required to cultivate one bigha of land.
Besides, farmers are getting an incentive package of Tk 150 million for planting and harvesting paddy on a field at the same time.
Under this programme, 110 blocks or exhibitions will be set up in 61 districts across the country.
Each exhibition will take place on 50 acres of land and the cost is estimated at Tk 1.37 million each.
