Tk 1.8m snatched from Beximco employee in Dhaka

Muggers have snatched Tk 1.8 million from men about to enter the Janata Bank branch in Dhaka’s Shyampur area. Kadamtali police station OC Md Abdus Salam said the mugging happened around 1pm on Sunday. ‘Three to four persons led by Beximco Pharma's Supervisor Harun Ur Rashid went to the bank to deposit the money. As soon as they reached the stairs muggers armed with sharp weapons beat them up and fled with the cash,’ he said. The incident happened just half an hour after a media call by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over the mugging of Tk 2 million from the capital's Khilgaon area. On Saturday, detectives arrested four persons in possession with arms over the Dec 7 mugging, when miscreants shot shopkeeper Abdus Salam and snatched the money from him. The arrestees are ‘Moshtak’, ‘Sohel’ alias ‘Banuti’, ‘Russell’ and ‘Arzu’. At Sunday's press conference, DMP Deputy Commissioner Krishnapada Roy said that two pistols, four magazines, a few rounds of ammunitions and two motorcycles were confiscated from the four. DMP officials including Deputy Commissioner Md Masudur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Sanowar Hossain were present at the briefing, according to bdnews24.com.
