Tk 2,096.1m approved for JS for next FY

The Parliament Secretariat Commission on Sunday approved Tk 2,096.1 million for the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) for the next fiscal year (2014-2015). The approval came at the 25th meeting of the Commission held at Parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushan Ershad, Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Law Minister Anisul Huq were present at the meeting. Of the allotted money, an amount of Tk 1966.8 million will be spent on non-development sector, while the rest on development sector. The meeting decided to change the old central air-conditioning system of Parliament with a modern one. It also decided to send a proposal in this regard to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) through the Public Works Ministry after scrutiny to get the necessary fund. Besides, the Commission was apprised about a proposal for building 448 flats for the employees of the Parliament Secretariat. The meeting decided to display the original design of the parliament building through a digital display. Chief Whip ASM Firoz, high officials of the Parliament Secretariat, including senior secretary M Ashraful Mokbul and Finance Secretary Fazle Kabir, were also present, according to a news agency.
