Tk 210.5m revenue collected in Rangpur income tax fair

RANGPUR, Sept 21 (BSS) :  Tk 210.5 million income taxes has been collected so far till Monday as revenue earning during the first six days in the weeklong Income Tax Fair-2015 that will conclude today(Tuesday) in the city.  
Commissioner of Taxes for Rangpur Zone Animesh Roy revealed the information while addressing a media briefing arranged at Zila Parishad Community Centre in the city this evening.
The divisional level top income tax official said the fair is being arranged mainly with a view to inspire the eligible citizens for spontaneous payment of their income taxes taking assistance of the income tax officials in a hassle-free manner.
"So far, 2,611 tax payers have deposited income tax return forms this time and the number is almost double than the number of tax payers who deposited their income tax return forms and income taxes in the last year's income tax fair here," he said.
Besides, 11,744 tax payers have already taken various services and suggestions from the income tax officials, 218 new tax payers have registered their e-TIN numbers and 14 old tax payers have re-registered their e-TIN numbers in the fair.
While answering to various questions, Mr  Roy expressed his satisfaction over the increasing number of income tax payers and collection of Tk 210.5 million as revenue so far this year against just more than Tk 20 million collected last year in the fair.
"More steps would be taken for creating awareness among the eligible citizens, including businesspersons, during this fiscal for further increasing the number of tax payers and inspiring them in spontaneous payment of income taxes," he added.
He asked the media workers for inspiring the eligible citizens to take assistance from the income tax officials on income tax, e-TIN certificates, calculation of income taxes and in filling out income tax return forms to pay their income taxes in the fair.
Additional Commissioner of Taxes for Rangpur Zone Shahid Kabir, Assistant Commissioners of Taxes Shamsul Alam, Nur-e-Alam, Rezaul Karim and Feroza Begum attended the press briefing participated by a large number of local journalists.
