Tk 22m fake currency notes seized in city

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested three alleged frauds, including an Indian national, and recovered Tk 22 million fake currency notes of different denominations from across the city Tuesday night, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Masudur Rahman, alias B N Sarker, 45, an Indian national, and his two Bangladeshi associates - Abdul Based, 41, and Shaheen Oliullah, 40. A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police DB, led by AC Shahidullah, conducted a drive at Officers' Club at Bailey Road, and arrested Masudur Rahman from its canteen. Following his statement, the DB team raided Badda area and arrested Based and Shaheen. The detectives seized counterfeit Bangladeshi currency notes of Tk 1,000 and Tk 500 denominations, worth Tk 220,00,000, and also recovered three coins of the East India Company era (about 300 years old) from their possession.
