Tk 2.39b outstanding bill of Dhaka WASA: LGRD minister

SANGSAD BHABAN, March 1 (BSS): LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam told the House Sunday that the outstanding bill of Dhaka WASA is now Tk 2.39 billion (239 crore).
In a written reply to a question raised by treasury bench member ANM Shamsul Islam (Chittagong-14), he said, of the total amount, outstanding residential bill is Tk 1.86 billion, commercial outstanding is Tk 286.8 million and industrial outstanding Tk 239.0 million.
Responding to a question from ruling party lawmaker M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-10), the LGRD minister said, the water deficit in Chittagong City Corporation is 300 million litres.
The demand for water for 3.75 million people in the city corporation is 500 million litres and the Chittagong WASA is now able to supply to 200 million litre water.
The LGRD minister said, the government has undertaken a plan to ensure supply of 97 per cent water to the city corporation by 2011.
The projects, which were taken in the plan, included Tk 1648.6 million Madunaghta Water Supply Project, Tk 1976.9 million Mohara Water Supply Project, Tk 590.3 million 3rd Interim Water Supply Project, Tk 9629.0 million Karnaphuli Water Supply Project-1, Tk 823.0 million Mohara and Kalurghat Plants Rehabilitation Project and Tk 200 million Chittagong WASA Emergency Water Supply Project, he said.
