Tk 25b allocated for Hatirjheel dev work

Housing and Public Works Minister Engr Mosharraf Hossain has said the government has allocated Tk 25 billion (2,500 crore) for the development work of Hatirjheel project. ‘The construction of the new bridge at the Hatirjheel project is in progress and we are expecting that the construction work of the bridge will be completed next June,’ he said while speaking with reporters. The Housing and Public Works Minister said ‘We have already allocated Tk 6 billion for Banani, Gulshan and Baridhara projects for its different development works and hopefully these works will be completed within next 2 years.’ The government will take all necessary measures to make Banani, Gulshan and Baridhara lakes pollution free for ensuring sound environment in these areas, he added. A total of Tk 370 million has been allocated for the beatification works of Uttara lake, Mosharraf said, adding steps will be taken to protect land from illegal grabbing of the Uttara lake, according to a news agency.
