Tk 2.5m gold seized at Shahjalal

Customs Intelligence officials at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Dhaka seized gold worth Tk 2.5 million on Friday. They also arrested a man in this connection. The arrestee is Md Faisal Ahmed, 38, a passenger of Malaysian Airlines who came from Kuala Lumpur. He hailed from Munshiganj. Sources at the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate said Faisal landed at the airport from an airlines flight at about 12:30pm. He was challenged while trying to pass through the green channel of the customs lounge. Later, 520 grams of gold was found searching his body, said an official of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, according to UNB.
