Tk 2.77tn distributed among over 40m clients in FY 25: MRA

Under the initiative of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA), a regional seminar titled "Bank-MFI Linkage" was held at the auditorium of Gram Unnayan Karma (GAK), a microfinance institution based in Bogura, on Saturday.
Chief Executive Officers from 68 MRA-licensed microfinance institutions operating in Bogura, Sirajganj, Pabna, and Joypurhat districts attended the seminar. Additionally, representatives from 16 commercial banks and NBFIs, as well as officials from Bangladesh Bank and the MRA participated in the event, says a press release.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Helal Uddin, Executive Vice Chairman of the MRA was present as the chief guest, while Sardar Al Emran, Director of the Bangladesh Bank Bogura Office, attended the event as the special guest.
Md. Nure Alam Mehedi, Executive Director of the MRA, delivered the welcome address. Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Director of the MRA, made the keynote presentation and Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Director of the MRA, moderated the programme.
Highlighting the significant impact of the microfinance sector on the rural economy in FY 2024-25, Mohammad Kamal Hossain said approximately Tk 2.77 trillion was distributed among over 40 million clients, significantly increasing financial accessibility for those outside regular banking services.
On the other hand, the total fund of microfinance institutions in Bangladesh stood at Tk 1.94 trillion as of June 2025, he added.
