Tuesday, 16 November 2010

The government has arranged bank loans of nearly Tk 3.0 billion for the tannery industries ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha for buying hides and skin. This amount is 30 per cent more than the previous year's allocation of Tk 2.4 billion. Moreover, some specialised public banks as well as private banks have been lending another Tk 1.0 billion for the same purpose. Like the previous year, the Janata Bank has been giving most of the loans in leather sector and has already lent Tk 1.5 billion in this regard, S M Aminur Rahman, chief executive officer of the Bank, told reporters. Three public sector specialised banks - Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, BASIC Bank - and two banks from private sector - National Bank and City Bank - have also been distributing the loans.
