Tk 30m addl revenue earned daily after illegal VOIP ban

The government is receiving additional revenue of Taka 30 million everyday with the BTRC (Bangladesh Tele Regulatory Commission) measures to ban illegal use of VOIP (voice over internet protocol). A report of the Post and Telecommunication Ministry shows that the revenue of the government from this sector has increased since March 15 this year. IP of three private landphone company and Internet Service Provider (ISP) have been blocked so far as the means to stop illegal use of VOIP. The length of international calls increased by 15 million minutes daily after the measures were taken. — BSS
