Tk 34.7m allocated for Narail unemployed

NARAIL, May 8 (BSS): The government has allocated Tk 347 million against 2nd phase of special 40-day employment generation programme for the ultra-poor and seasonal unemployed people of Narail district. The objective of the programme is to assist poor, particularly jobless farm workers and day labourers to overcome job crisis and famine like situation during the lean period in the months of Chaitra and Baishakh of Bangla year. Under this programme, district relief and rehabilitation office sources said, Tk 5.76 million was allocated for Sadar Upazila, Tk 18.8 million for Lohagora Upazila and Tk 11 million for Kalia Upazila. A total of 5,781 poor people including women aged between 18 to 50 years have been listed to complete 114 project works in the district. The projects include construction and reconstruction of kutcha roads and approach roads of bridges and culverts, earth filling on the ground of different academic and religious institutions, excavation and re-excavation of derelict ponds and canals. As many as 951 workers have been selected for 39 project works in Sadar Upazila, 3,137 workers for 36 projects in Lohagora Upazila and 1,693 workers for 39 projects in Kalia Upazila, AKM Tazkiruzzaman, district relief and rehabilitation officer said.
