Tk 3.50m gold ornaments robbed from city shop

Gold ornaments worth about Tk 3.50 million was robbed from a jewellery shop at Khilgaon in the city Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Witnesses said a gang of about 10 robbers raided Munni Jewellers on the ground floor of Taltola Super Market, adjacent to Khilgaon police station, during launch-break.
The gang barged into the shop, held the attendants hostage at gunpoint and looted around 100 tolas of gold. They also stabbed the shop manager Tajul Islam (30) as he tried to resist them.
The injured was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The criminals also exploded four to five crude bombs while fleeing the spot.
Sub-Inspector of Khilgaon police station Sazzad Hossain told the FE that no immediate arrest was made in connection with the robbery.
