Tk 420m syndicate deal between five banks, Green Life Hospital

A syndicate financing loan agreement was signed between five commercial banks led by Agrani Bank Ltd and Green Life Hospital Ltd at a city hotel Monday. Other four syndicated loan provider banks are Janata Bank Ltd, Pubali Bank Ltd, Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) and NCC Bank Ltd.
Under the deal, the banks will provide loan of Tk 420 million (42.00 crore) to the hospital authority.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Salehuddin Ahmed was present on the occasion as the chief guest, while Agrani Bank Chairman Siddiqur Rahman Chowdhury and Green life Hospital Chairman Shamsuddin Ahmed were present as the special guests.
Agrani Bank MD and CEO Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, DBBL MD Md Yasin Ali, Pubali Bank MD Helal Uddin Chowdhury, NCC Bank MD Narul Amin, Green Life Hospital MD Mainul Ahsan, Agrani Bank DMD Syed Abdul Hamid and Janata Bank DMD Mizanur Rahman were present, among others, on the occasion.
The BB Governor lauded the lead bank for initiating such a step and said health sector is the most priority sector of the PRSP. Therefore, noted medical practitioners must come forward to serve the people in accordance with the goal, he said.
He admired the talent of the doctors of the country but grieved for lack of the services rendered by them and hospital management for which the people of the country were seeking way to the neighbouring countries. He urged the hospital management to keep their views on this point.
Agrani Bank chairman said syndicated financing is gradually becoming popular in credit management. He also praised the capabilities and entrepreneurship of doctors in the service sector.
Agrani Bank MD and CEO said the proposed hospital will be an ultra-modern hospital having 250 beds with a total cost of Tk 840 million. Syndicated member banks will provide Tk 420 million to the hospital on fifty per cent equity basis.
Agrani Bank has already provided a total credit of Tk 900 million to nine hospitals.
