Tk 44.33b earned thru\\\' fisheries, livestock exports

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sayedul Haque has said the country has earned Tk 44.33 billion from export of fisheries and livestock last fiscal. At a press conference at the Fisheries Department here, he attributed the government's multifarious steps to the record export earning from the sector. The press conference was arranged to inform media about the programmes taken marking the Fisheries Week-2014 (July 2-8). State Minister for Fisheries Narayan Chandra Chanda, director general of Fisheries Department Syed Arif Azad, director general of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute Mohammad Jaher and joint secretary of the ministry of Fisheries and Livestock M Anisur Rahman were present on the occasion. Sayedul Haque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the week at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city. He said the main objective of the week is to create awareness about development of the fisheries sector and encourage them towards cultivation of fisheries in the country. Theme of the year is ‘Onno Bosro Basostan: Bachh Chashe Somadhan’, he said, according to UNB.
