Tk 5.48b project to re-excavate rivers under process

The government is to undertake a massive programme to re-excavate rivers and canals across the country to restore navigability of the watercourses to facilitate irrigation in lean period and drain out water during monsoon as well. A project styled "Rehabilitation of Embankments and Excavation of Rivers/Khals" involving about Tk 5479.5 million (547.95 crore) is now under process to excavate rivers and canals, Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen told the House Sunday.
