Tk 5m jute gutted by fire at Peoples Jute Mills

KHULNA, May 2: - A fire at the production room of the Peoples Jute Mills in Khalishpur area of the city gutted jutes worth about Tk 5.0 million on Tuesday last.
According to the fire servicesources, the fire originated from an electric short-circuit at about 11 am and immediately engulfed the jute piled up there.
On receipt of the information, five fire-fighting vehicles from different stations rusted the spot and extinguished the fire at around 12 noon.
Deputy coordinator of the mill Ram Chandra Sannashi said that a four-member committee has been formed headed by Controller of the mill Abdur Rashid to investigate the fire incident.
