Tk 650m loan being distributed among Khulna farmers

KHULNA, Oct 24: A sum of Tk. 650 million (65 crore) is being distributed as loan among the farmers in ten districts of Khulna division under the Crop Multipurpose Project of Agriculture Extension Department (AED) to bring solvency among the farmers.
The government has set up a regional office at Jessore to implement the project in 18 districts of Khulna, Barisal and Dhaka division. Under this project Tk. 1160 million will be distributed as loan on easy terms and condition among the different classes of farmers from the current year to 2016.
Sources said that the project funded by ADB and Bangladesh Bank, Basic Bank, Eastern Bank and Micro-Finance Institute will distribute the loan programme under the supervision of AED.
One drowns in Rupsha
A man drowned in the river Rupsha while a trawler dashed with another trawler at Bagmara area today morning.
Local and eyewitnesses said that, Nur Alam, a staff of Jalabad Sea Food Limited was going to factory by a trawler from west side of Rupsha ghat. While he reached near Bagmara area the loaded trawler dashed with an anchored trawler and Nur Alam fell into the river and went missing. The body of Nur Alam was recovered after searching about one hour by the divers.
