Tk 7.27 billion allocated for EC

The government has allocated Tk 7.27 billion for the Election Commission (EC) in the proposed budget for the fiscal year (FY), 2014-15, to conduct local government elections in some areas.
Of the amount, Tk 5.13 billion has been proposed for development activities, keeping the rest of the amount for non-development purposes of the commission.
In the FY 2013-14, the total allocation for the EC was Tk 16.49 billion, of which Tk 11.87 billion was for non-development purposes as the commission had to hold many elections in the outgoing fiscal including general elections.
