Tk 7m valuables gutted by fire at ICB

A fire broke out at the computer division of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) housed at Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (formerly Shilpa Bank) headquarters in the capital's Motijheel area Monday.
Firefighters said the blaze originated on the 15th floor of the building at about 5:54 am from an electric short circuit and burnt three air conditioners, seven computers, 15 pieces of UPS, three servers, printers and other valuables.
"Prices of the valuables damaged in the fire were estimated at around Tk 7.0 million," a senior fireman told the FE.
On information, firefighters from several units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of frantic efforts with the help law enforcers as well as employees of the building.
However, no one was injured in the ablaze.
Meanwhile Iftikhar-Uz-Zaman, general manager of ICB, said the damage caused by the fire could not destroy data of their clients as they have back-up facilities at their Bogra branch and the local office in front of Jonaki Cinema Hall.
"There is nothing to worry. Normal activities are now going on as per schedule," he added.
