Tk 93.6m DBBL donation for modernisation of Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd (DBBL) has donated a sum of Tk 93.6 million (Tk 9.36 crore) to Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB) for equipping the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Research Institute, BIRDEM with a cath lab and two operation theatres with liver and kidney transplantation and cardiac surgery facilities and increasing the total bed number from 80 to 150.
A discussion meeting was held in this connection at the BIRDEM Hospital in the city Sunday, said a press release.
DBBL Managing Director Md Yeasin Ali was present as the chief guest at the meeting and inaugurated the cath lab.
President of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh AK Azad Khan presided over the meeting.
Md Yeasin Ali said DBBL always tries to help the destitute people of the country by performing community activities like education, health, extending financial assistance to the distressed and calamity-affected people.
He said the main objective of the donation is to ensure modern medical facilities for common people at a lower cost and free medical facilities to the extent of 30 per cent of the total number of patients who are poor and unable to pay.
DAB President AK Azad Khan, in his speech, appreciated the DBBL's continuous humanitarian and welfare activities and termed the donation a unique example in the financial sector.
He thanked the DBBL's board of directors and management for the donation.
