Today\\\'s SSC, equivalent exams now on Friday
FE Report | Monday, 2 February 2015
The government has finally deferred today's (Monday) Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in the face of the ongoing 72-hour countrywide general strike called by the BNP-Jamaat-led alliance.
The exams, earlier slated for today, will now be held on Friday.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) on Sunday shifted today's SSC and equivalent examinations to Friday next.
"We can't leave our beloved students in uncertainty as the 20-party alliance is continuing its violent protest across the country," Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said while addressing an emergency press meet at the Secretariat building on the day.
The minister said because of Jum'a prayers, Friday's examinations would start at 9:00 am instead of 10:00 am. The ministry postponed the day's exams just a day before the scheduled start of one of the country's biggest public examinations in terms of the number of participating students.
Terming the existing political situation unwanted and unexpected, Mr Nahid said the nation would pay for it in future.
