Tofail urges parties to join CC polls

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed called upon all political parties on Saturday to take part in the forthcoming city corporation polls, report agencies.
"The future of the country is under threat only for political conflicts and violence," he said this while addressing as the chief guest the inaugural ceremony of a conference on "Biochem-istry, Industry and Sustainable Economy" organised by Bangladesh Biochemical and Micro-biology Science Association in cooperation with the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology of Dhaka University (DU) at Nabab Nawab Ali Senate Bhaban.
Presided over by association president Prof Saiyad Salehin Quadri, the inaugural session was also addressed by DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Qazi Akramuddin Ahmed as the special guests.
Meanwhile, Chittagong city unit AL president ABM Mohiuddin Chowd-hury said on Saturday all need to work together to ensure the win of party-backed mayoral candidate, AJM Nasir Uddin, in the upcoming Chittagong City Corpora-tion (CCC) elections.
