Token hunger strike observed: BCL urges PM to review decision

A section of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) observed a symbolic hunger strike on the Dhaka University (DU) campus Tuesday seeking review of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina relinquishing her role as the organisational chief of BCL.
Several hundred BCL leaders and activists joined the two-hour hunger strike in front of the DU Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Bhaban from 11 am to 1 pm hanging various placards on shoulders in support of their demand.
"We express the hope that the prime minister will come back to the BCL leadership and reform the organisation with the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman", several striking BCL leaders told reporters Tuesday.
Earlier, BCL couldn't meet Sheikh Hasina despite trying for the last two days.
