Tokyo, London bourses to create new Asian mkt

Friday, 2 November 2007

TOKYO, Nov 1 (AFP): The Tokyo and London stock exchanges has announced plans for the launch of a new capital-raising market for emerging Asian firms as part of an effort to fend off stiff competition from rival bourses.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) plan to create a joint venture firm to establish the new market by the end of 2008 in Tokyo, they said in a statement.
"The market will be a new risk capital market for companies and investors from Japan and elsewhere in Asia," they said.
