Thursday, 25 September 2014

Tokyo shares ended the morning session remarkably higher Thursday, with its benchmark Nikkei index hitting a nearly seven-year high, following a buoyant overnight US market, as well as on a weaker yen. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rocketed 197.29 points, or 1.22 per cent, higher from Wednesday to 16,364.74, after briefly hitting 16,365.04, its highest level on an intraday basis since Nov. 5, 2007. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 15.12 points, or 1.14 per cent, to 1, 341.30. Gainers were led by mining, insurance and automaker issues, according to shanghaidaily.com
