Tongi-Mirpur bus service via Ashulia from today

Friday, 4 September 2009

FE Report
The second Bus Route Franchise (BRF) service will be introduced in the outskirts of the city aiming at diverting traffic of the two densely inhabited areas from the busy thoroughfares of the metropolis.
Dhaka Transport Coordination Board (DTCB) has introduced the service from Tongi to Mirpur-1 that will help commuters of these areas to reach their destinations through Ashulia avoiding the busy Uttara-Airport road.
The first BRF service was inaugurated between Uttara and Azimpur on April 14 this year under the Association of Bus Companies (ABC) brand name "Suchona."
However, the Uttara-Azimpur bus service helped very little to reduce traffic jam in the area for various reasons.
According to DTCB, 20 per cent traffic congestion in the Uttara area would be reduced with the introduction of the Tongi-Mirpur service.
Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain will inaugurate the second BRF service at a function at Tongi point on Friday.
