Golam Mostafa, who was arrested on charge of torturing two minors cruelly after tying them with a tree in Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira, was sent to jail on Thursday. The district court sent Mostafa to jail after police produced him before it on Thursday morning. Police arrested Mostafa, son of Imran Ali Moral of Joynagar village in the upazila, on Wednesday afternoon after a case was filed against him over the alleged torture, occurred on July 16. Meanwhile, Mostafa termed the picture of the two minor boys tied with the tree ‘fabricated’, saying his rivals staged a drama to frame him. Although he admitted to tying the boys with the tree, he said he did not tie them like the picture showed. “My rivals are trying to frame me tying the boys with rope and chain like this,” he told reporters. Yeasin, 8, son of Ismail Tarafder, and Nasim, 9, son of Hamid Tarafder of the village, were frolicking on a walkway on the land of Mostafa on July 16. Mostafa asked the boys to return home after rain started pouring down. However, Yeasin and Nasim – both Class-III students – continued to play whereby the road turned into mud. Infuriated, Mostafa tied the two boys up with a tree and unleashed inhuman torture on them. As the guardians of the two schoolchildren came in their rescue, Mostafa also tried to attack them. Hamid Tarafder filed a case in this connection, according to a news agency.
