Robbers swooped on a group of tourists and looted a large amount of money and other valuable items from them in Kamalganj Upazila in Moulvibazar district on Thursday. Three tourists were injured as the miscreants beat them with the butt of their firearms and stabbed them with sharp weapons. The injured are Shahidul Islam, 28, Rafique Palwan, 30, and Jannatul Islam, 33. They hail from Fatulla in Narayanganj district. They were admitted to Kamalganj Health Complex. Hospital and local sources said the tourists along with guide Iqbal Hossain went to ‘Ham Ham’ waterfall in the remote hilly area. On their return trip from the waterfall, a gang of 5-6 robbers intercepted them in the hill. The bandits took away cash and other valuables, including mobile phone sets and digital cameras, from the tourists at gunpoint. They also attacked three of the tourists as they tried to resist the muggers, leaving them seriously injured.
