Trade VAT on super shops doubles

The proposed budget for the next fiscal year has increased trade VAT on super shops from 2.0 per cent to 4.0 per cent.
"I, in order to eliminate the existing discrimination, propose imposing trade VAT at the rate of 4 per cent for the super shops as well," Finance Minister AMA Muhith said Thursday.
The budget also proposed hike in annual package VAT for small retailers based on areas.
It has been proposed TK 14,000 from existing TK 11,000 for Dhaka and Chittagong city corporations while the package VAT has increased to Tk 10,000 from Tk 8,000 for other city corporations.
Tk 7,200 and Tk 3,600 have been proposed for municipalities and other areas of the country respectively.
