Trader gunned down in city

A trader was gunned down by unknown assailants in Dhaka’s Matuail area on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Mojibur Rahman, 45, son of Showrab Ali Sarder. He used to reside at his own house in Kajirgaon Mridhabari of Matuail. Contacted, Sayedur Rahman, elder brother of the victim, said Mojibur Rahman had cable (Copper) business in Nababpur Road but he had not gone there for the last one month. He was owner of two houses – one six-storey building and another two-storey building. He was residing at the two-storey building behind the six-storey building, Sayedur said. Sayedur who resides in another area said family members found Mojibur outside the building with bullet injuries early in the morning and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor pronounced him dead at about 5:30am. Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muntashirul Islam said the security guard of the house was found on the rooftop of the building with his hands tied. Reason behind the killing could not be known, he added, according to UNB.
