Traders fined Tk 0.13m

A team of National Consumers' Rights Protection Directorate (NCRPD) Monday realised Tk 0.13 million in fines from 15 drug traders in city for selling date-expired drugs, reports BSS.
An official press release said the team penalised the traders while conducting a drive at Mohakhali. NCRPD director Abu Taleb led the drive.
The traders were fined for violating consumers' rights under the Consumers' Rights Protection Act-2009.
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Consumers' Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and Bangladesh Council of Science and Industrial Research (BCSIR) were present during the drive.
Later, the NCRPD team distributed leaflets containing punishment provisions for violating the Consumers' Rights Protection Act among the sellers.
