Traffic management

Traffic jams continues to be on the rise in metro Dhaka. While construction of some flyovers has eased the problem to an extent, some are going to add to it in future. Maghbazar-Malibag-Banglamotor flyover will worsen the traffic jam. At present, vehicles coming from Maghbazar to Banglamotor are to wait for an unusually long time for the under-construction flyover there, waiting time, I think, will increas several times as this flyover is not crossing Banglamotor and thus vehicles coming from Malibagh-Maghbazar will have to wait at Banglamotor.
Besides, the city needs a number of multistoried car parks at important locations, because most of the vehicles are parked on road sides. Even the lone car park built by Sadharan Bima Corporation is not being used properly and cars are parked in and around Motijheel area causing serious inconvenience for all.
Slow moving vehicles must have separate lanes or should be allowed to ply on limited number of roads. Karwan Bazar area located close to two five star hotels and where city corporation and WASA offices are located is too dirty to mention. Should the policy planners do something about it before 2021, target for achieving the status of a middle income country!
