Train engine swerves onto Ctg rail station platform

Wednesday, 10 December 2014

A train engine swerved off the track onto the platform of Chittagong Railway Station on Wednesday morning during replacement of compartments. However, none was injured. Mafizur Rahman, additional chief engineer (Bridges) at the railway station, said the engine along with a compartment veered off the track and got onto the platform No-4 of the station around 5:30am while replacing compartments of the ‘Mohanagar Provati’ train bound for Dhaka taking those from Pahartali dock. The floor, glasses and the engine were damaged due to the crash, said Mafizur Rahman. The ‘Mohanagar Provati’, scheduled to leave Chittagong Station for Dhaka at 7:00am, left the station 1 hour later as another engine was joined with the compartments of the inter-city passenger train. A four-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident, according to a news agency.
