Train services halted for 7 hours due to derailment

Friday, 2 December 2011

Train services between the country's south-western and north-southern regions remained snapped for about seven hours Thursday, as three bogies (tank wagon) of a fuel-carrying train derailed at Ishwardi railway junction in Pabna. Railway sources said three bogies of the Parbatipur-bound train, coming from Khulna, went off the tracks at about 8am, disrupting train services. The derailed train could not be rescued until 7pm, but the authorities took steps for plying of train through alternative tracks at about 3pm. - UNB
