Training for RMG compliance officials concludes

CHITTAGONG, Aug 07: A two-day training workshop titled "Social and environmental standards in the RMG industry" for the compliance officials working in different Chittagong-based Ready Made Garments (RMG) factories organised jointly by the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and German Technical Co-operation (GTZ) concluded at a city hotel Thursday.
Speaking in the inaugural session, BGMEA Director Md Mohiuddin Chowdhury termed the workshop a time-befitting one and thanked the GTZ for extending their cooperation in this regard.
He advised the compliance officials to realise the importance of compliance and apply the gathered knowledge in their respective factories ensuring fair and developed working atmosphere there.
Chairman of Labour and Fire Affairs Standing Committee of BGMEA, Chittagong Nasiruddin Chowdhury in his address stressed the need for the mid-level officials playing a vital role as it was very tremendous in the uplift of the RMG sector.
GTG senior Business Adviser Anima Chowdhury highly praised the BGMEA in the field of compliance and its standardisation in the RMG sector. She gave assurance to provide more cooperation to the BGMEA in this regard.
As many as 35 compliance officials of the different garments industries of Chittagong took part in the training workshop.
