Training on dev of silk industry begins in Comilla

COMILLA, Oct 18 (BSS): A training programme on development of silk industry and cultivation of mulberry trees for silkworm began in the district Monday.
The district Silk Extension Department of Textiles and Jute Ministry organised the training programme to expand mulberry tree cultivation and develop silk industry in five upazilas in Comilla and Chandpur through imparting training to farmers.
The concerned officials told the news agency that eight thousand mulberry trees have so far been planted by 40 farmers in the upazilas.
Besides, some 15,000 saplings of the mulberry trees and 450 kg cocoons through 1500 hatched silkworms have been produced, they added.
