Transport blockade holds long-distance vehicles in Rangamati

Roads and waterways transport have been disrupted in Rangamati over the UPDF’s blockade in protest of killing three of their activists. United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) called the half-day transport blockade for Tuesday. The blockade started at 6:00am on Tuesday and ended at 2:00pm. UPDF backed students’ outfit Paharhi Chhatra Parishad (Hilltracts Student Council) leader Bablu Chakma said the blockade to protest the murder of three UPDF members has been observed in a peaceful manner. Kotwali police station OC Abdur Rashid told bdnews24.com that they don’t have reports of any untoward incidents. But he said the police and security forces were alert. On June 14, three of the UPDF activists, Judhhomoni Chakma, Rupomoy Chakma Sujoy, and Sumon Chakma were shot dead in Golachherhi near Bhaibonchharha in Rangamati's Longdu Upazila, according to bdnews24.com.
