Transport owners call off strike in Kishoreganj

Tuesday, 30 June 2015

Two days into its enforcement, the Kishoreganj District Transport Owners’ Association on Monday night withdrew the indefinite strike in the district following an assurance of meeting their demands. The decision to call off the strike came after Superintendent of Police Anwar Hossain Khan intervened in the matter. SP Anwar Hossain Khan held a meeting with the striking bus owners and workers at his office. The transport owners enforced the strike on Sunday morning demanding punishment of the leaders of the Road Transport Workers’ Union for enforcing a transport strike on Saturday and holding the election of the union in due time, according to a news agency.
