Travel ban on ex-Cumilla MP Shofiuddin

Tuesday, 8 April 2025

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on ex-MP from Cumilla-8 constituency Abu Zafar Mohammod Shofiuddin over graft allegations, reports BSS.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday, allowing a plea filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) assistant director Ferdous Rahman.
The ACC said a team had been formed to probe Shofiuddin’s graft allegations, including the embezzlement of Tk 3.0 billion from a single project. The ACC expressed concerns that the ex-MP might flee the country to avoid prosecution, leading to the travel restriction.
